David King serves as the Managing Director of the Global Innovation Institute at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City.  HSS ranks #1 internationally in the care of musculoskeletal and rheumatologic diseases. The Innovation Institute at HSS is responsible for commercialization of early-stage technologies in life sciences (implants, devices, drug discovery) and Care Delivery (digital health, big data, quantified patients/athletes). 

Since joining HSS in Q4 2015, the Innovation Center has spun off multiple new ventures, valued at over $50 million, executed numerous commercial agreements with publically traded and privately-held international companies, initiated drug discovery joint ventures and investigator-initiated IND clinical trials for novel drug delivery devices.  Prior to joining HSS, David served as Assistant Vice President of Service Lines and Operations for CHI St. Luke’s Health in Houston’s Texas Medical Center where he led internal innovation efforts around comprehensive capacity optimization of the 860-bed flagship AMC hospital. 

David has served as a mentor for numerous HIT accelerator programs, including TMCx in Houston and Blueprint Health in New York City.  David holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration degree from UAB.
